Jesus’ Baptism part 5

Jesus’ Baptism part 5

The last thing that helps us to wait as we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and Fire is to listen.

Believe God’s word over anything that you think life teaches to the contrary. Listen only to your Father. He is your teacher, and He gave you His own Spirit. No one knows the mind or heart of the Father except the Spirit who searches the deep things of God. -1 Cor 2:10

People are skeptical of listening to the Spirit because they say the Bible is all we need, but the Bible is a record of the Spirit speaking throughout all of history. Does He become less personal now that He lives in us? Do not be afraid of the unknown when it comes to God. God does not lead you astray. His Spirit came to earth to reveal the heart and passion behind the words that have grown familiar. He is the one who reveals God’s heart to us. He has come to make the scripture alive in our souls.

Look into the heart of your God. Into His goodness, His grace, His love and all He has done to make you one with Him and to make Himself known to you. You can begin to freely come into the Holy of Holies with confidence that He will make Himself known to you. Those who seek Him find Him.

There is no other treasure.

Who would give up a good father for money or fame or fun or anything else? If you do not have a good father, and many do not, then I hope you will allow God to teach you about the kind of Father He is. He is not like any man. There is no flaw in Him. No deceit. He does not keep a record of wrongs. He always hopes, always perseveres. His love never fails. He is patient and He is kind.

It is His kindness that leads us to repentance. Jesus came in kindness and gentleness. He is our Savior. The rod of iron He rules with is not for His bride. It is for His enemies.

Jesus said when the Spirit came He would teach us all things:

John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Listen. Listen and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. -Isaiah 55
